Flood of the Century Exhibit

Centres & Museums

Students from across the valley learn about the warning signs and flooding in their communities.

The Flood of the Century Exhibit was designed to be a travelling exhibit but has found a permanent home in the Red River Valley Floods Interpretive Centre.

The bilingual interpretive program has 16 display sections, accompanied by extremely interesting text, photographs and artifacts. The exhibition also highlights the suffering of the people affected, the rebuilding that has been undertaken, and the aid of the military at the time of the flood crisis.

Challenge: With deadlines looming, the exhibit structures had been designed, but no storyline or themes had been developed. These were created, text was written, illustrations found, and the exhibit opened to its first showing in the United States.

Location: Permanent site is the Red River Valley Floods Interpretive Centre on Highway 75 just outside Ste. Agathe, MB
