Pine Ridge Trail

Interpretive Trails

Often the best and most sustainable trail surface is the natural one.

This trail was a labour of love. It gave me the opportunity to meet some wonderful people. They opened their homes and hearts to me so I could record their oral histories and put a small portion of it in the trail guide. It tells the story of the people who once lived where the park is today; many still consider it home.

Theme: The people that pioneered this land almost one hundred years ago built it into a strong community of hard working people.

Location: Birds Hill Provincial Park

Special features: as the target audience for the trail was largely seniors, park benches were used to mark the stops. There are three entry points on this linear trail that follows what was once the Old School Road through the community.

You can see the trail guide on the Manitoba Parks and Natural Areas website www.gov.mb.ca/conservation/parks.
