New Iceland Heritage Museum

Centres & Museums

Panels are bilingual – English and Icelandic – in an effort to keep the language alive.

In partnership with designer John Pawlyk, we developed the entrance gallery for the museum. We also prepared background information on artifacts and themes for the other galleries.

A key component of the exhibits was to include the Icelandic language. Preservation of the language was a central factor in why the people chose to come to Manitoba. We incorporated poetry into the gallery, another important cultural tradition.
